third of households in New South Wales are affected by financial stress and one in six people are very worried about their financial future. When a sudden illness, job loss or relationship breakdown tips an individual or family into debt, other problems can rapidly follow: homelessness, physical and mental health issues and dangerous coping behaviours. The social and economic cost to individuals and the community can be enormous.
