NAIDOC Week 2020 on the Coffs Harbour Coast was very different to usual. But despite the challenges, we were still able to come together and celebrate the survival and the thriving Gumbaynggirr community and culture within the Coffs Harbour area in a historic NAIDOC week.
We celebrated both virtually and face to face during the week. Much-loved events like the Flag Raising and Grace Roberts Community Development Awards were streamed via Facebook Live. Other enjoyable moments were streamed too, like the Bush Tucker Inspired Cooking Class with Aunty Sue Tomkins and Lounge Room Trivia with Coffs Harbour Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC).
In a COVID friendly way, we were able to come together to hold a Touch Football Day, a Junior Ranger Day and the NAIDOC Sunday Markets in person.
Huge congratulations to all organisations that played a role in 2020’s celebrations and hoping we can return to “usual” for NAIDOC Week in 2021.
