Since finishing the Prepare, Trial, Hire (PaTH) Program and with the help of Wesley Disability Employment Services, Paige Stanley has realised that she’s capable of finding a career in any area she’d like.
Paige completed her HSC in 2017, before starting with TAFE, studying a Certificate III in Children Services (CHC30708). Quickly Paige realised that even though she was skilled in childcare, she had dreams elsewhere. That’s why she decided to use the tools available to her through Wesley Disability Employment Services.
After finishing her course and getting some casual work in childcare, the Wesley Disability Employment Services team helped Paige enrol in the PaTH Program with HVTC (Hunter Valley Training Company) last year to gain new skills and work experience in Business Administration. The Program aims to help improve training and career pathways for young people in the Hunter and Central Coast.
After completing skills training through the Central Coast Community College, Paige then undertook a trial internship within the HVTC team. Paige’s attitude and willingness to learn impressed HVTC very quickly! She progressed so well that she was offered a Business Administration Traineeship with HVTC’s Group Training Organisation. Despite living with anxiety, Paige was able to accept the offer and take the next steps towards her future career.
“So far through the traineeship I’ve learnt a lot of new skills that I didn’t really know before, such as photocopying, filing, and I’ve learnt to answer the phone correctly, enter and print data into different programs,” Paige said.
Sharon Busby, HVTC Group Training Coordinator, says Paige is a hard worker and that the team at HVTC are thrilled to have her on board.
