Wesley Mission is seeking an exceptional leader as its Head of People Services. Reporting to our General Manager, People & Culture, this is a unique opportunity for adynamic and highly capable HR professional who values people, fosters trust, has expertise in employment relations and a love for generalist HR.

 

What you’ll do:

    • Lead and inspire a high-performing, highly engaged HR Operations team, championing a culture of excellence and collaboration.
    • Contribute to innovative people & culture strategies, ensuring our workforce and management are empowered, supported, and set up for success.
    • Oversee employment relations, industrial compliance, and HR service delivery.
    • Collaborate closely with line management to understand service needs and optimise support through effective employment relations and workforce management.

To be successful in this position, you must be able to meet the criteria below:

 

Essential criteria

  • Excellent leadership skills and behaviours
  • Five years’ experience leading others as a senior HR or employment relations specialist.
  • Deep experience in employment relations and a love for generalist HR.
  • Exceptional integrity, honesty, discernment and work ethic.
  • A love for people and leading well, seeing yourself as the first assistant to your team’s success.
  • Very high-level written and verbal communications including confidence as a presenter.
  • Technologically adept including effective prompt writing for AI.
  • Positively minded, can-do, sleeves rolled up approach.
  • Personal commitment to Wesley Mission’s unchanging mission of ‘Continuing the work of Jesus Christ in Word and deed’ is a vital requirement of the role.

 

Desirable criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in law, psychology or human resource management.
  • Experience within the for-purpose sector.
