About the role

Due to the implementation of a new HR and People system, an opportunity has become available for a temporary HR Assistant role to provide screening, compliance and administrative support to the Human Resources team and Wesley Mission staff.

 

The successful applicant will have exceptionally strong attention to detail, proven record of handling sensitive and confidential information, be a quick learner, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to multi-task and work efficiently and accurately. You will have previous administrative experience in a fast paced environment, preferably within an HR function or team. This role is ideal for someone who can utilise their experience and strengths to provide support and apply administration skills, to contribute to the work the organisation does to support those most in need. The role is well supported by an experienced and friendly team.

 

A qualification within the HR or Business Administration field would be advantageous to you in securing this role.

 

Duties and responsibilities

  • support the HR team in providing timely and accurate screening and compliance checks (including criminal history checks, working with children checks, VEVO visa checks, Aged Care Checks and residential care register)
  • coordinate the review and updates of HR templates, policies, procedures and forms
  • general office administration (drafting of letters, memos and correspondence)
  • provide support for recruitment, selection, induction, onboarding and exit processes as required including assisting managers
  • assist with HR projects and events coordination
  • process invoices and expense reconciliations

 

Essential criteria

  • relevant administrative experience
  • intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • screening check experience
  • experience with databases and online systems
  • exceptional attention to detail, initiative and thorough completion of tasks
  • excellent time management skills including the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional telephone manner
  • ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment
  • ability to exercise discretion/confidentiality when handling sensitive information

 

Desirable criteria

  • diploma or tertiary level qualifications within the Human Resources or Business Administration field
  • previous experience within a HR function or team
  • experience working with Oracle PeopleSoft and accounts payable

 

Remuneration

Employment conditions and remuneration will be in accordance with the Clerks Private Sector Award, Grade 4 with generous salary packaging opportunities.
