About the program

Established in 1972 David Morgan Centre is an Australian Disability Enterprise offering sustainable and competitive contract packaging services in the secondary packaging of Therapeutic Goods and Veterinary products. We exist to support Wesley Mission’s unfunded work and provide employment and training for vulnerable people including people with a disability.

 

Employing 90+ vulnerable employees and recognised as “one of Australia’s happiest workplaces” the service is supported by 10 permanent staff and “hands on” management. Our clients and partners include well known household brands you would find in most kitchens within NSW, who count us as both an important part of their CSR and their FMCG supply chain.

 

About the role

The Operations Manager - Packaging & Production, is the senior manager onsite leading a team of staff and supported employees to “do all the good they can”. You will have a passion for supporting and developing the vulnerable in our community, specifically people living with an intellectual disability. You will have well developed organisational skills, be able to communicate with people from all walks of life, be experienced at business development, and knowledge of financial systems including budgeting.

 

To succeed you will have a demonstrated experience managing more than 50 employees delivering products or services in a commercially competitive, ideally within a production or supply chain environment. You may have knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme or demonstrate your ability to be a quick learner in a highly regulated industry. You will have a reputation for working “on the floor” as a cheerleader not a fear leader. Your experience, skills and passion will motivate your employees and drive the business to hit monthly and quarterly KPIs.

 

Essential skills/knowledge

  • Operations Management experience within Warehousing, Logistics, Manufacturing.
  • Experience within an Australian Disability Enterprise
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including the ability to manage budgets, price quotes, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines and budgets
  • Ability to meet and maintain the requirements of a “Fit and Proper Person” as defined by the TGA and NDIS licensing requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and presenting sales and business proposals to potential customers, business development and/or sales.
  • Excellent written and oral skills, public speaking and presentation capabilities
  • Forklift Licence or willingness and ability to obtain
  • High-level problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in computer skills in Microsoft Office and Dynamics.

 

Desirable skills/knowledge

  • Formal Qualifications in Warehousing, Transport and Logistics
  • Understanding of Australian Disability Enterprises (ADE), NDIS and TGA frameworks.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Engineering or Marketing
  • Experience in managing vulnerable clients as employees
  • Qualifications or experience working with and leading people with an intellectual disability
