Heroes United fundraising luncheon
When: Tuesday 25 June 2019
Where: Doltone House, Darling Island Wharf, Sydney
For ten years Heroes United has brought together Australians from the corporate, sporting and entertainment worlds to raise much needed funds for Wesley Mission’s homeless services and particularly our work at Wesley Edward Eagar Lodge.
Wesley Edward Eagar Lodge is a place where homeless and vulnerable men and women can get help in the heart of Sydney. Decades of use have taken a toll on the building and your support will help ensure the lodge is better equipped to meet the needs of those we help for years to come.
Our aim is to raise more than $180,000 at the Heroes United luncheon this year.
Acclaimed journalist Leigh Sales will be interviewing community heroes who have overcome great challenges and obstacles in their lives.
Ben Farinazzo is a former Australian Army officer who overcame post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety on his path to becoming an Invictus Games gold medallist.
Dana Vulin was doused in methylated spirits and set alight by a stalker who broke into her apartment. She suffered third degree burns to two-thirds of her body.
Todd Russell was trapped in the Beaconsfield Mine for 14 days, surviving underground in a pocket of air of just a couple of metres wide.
Louisa Hope and her mum were trapped at the Lindt Café siege for 16 hours while police negotiated with the person who was holding a gun. In the gunfight that ensued when the police stormed the café, Louisa sustained a bullet wound to the foot.
Come along to Heroes United fundraising luncheon and hear their amazing stories of survival and bravery.
