Vision
To be a leading suicide prevention program that educates, empowers and resources communities in a sustainable and ethical way.
Objectives
Educate
- Learn about the problem of suicide in Australia
- Develop an understanding of suicidal ideation and behaviour
- Help identify those at risk of suicide
- Develop active listening skills
- Learn practical strategies including how to assist a suicidal person
Empower
- Increase knowledge and confidence to handle crisis situations
Resource
- Individuals – learn practical strategies to help identify warning signs and assist the suicidal person
- Communities – identify resources in your local community e.g. counselling, mental health services.
Wesley LifeForce Achievements
We are proud of what we have achieved thus far, and thank many community members and organizations for making these achievements possible:
During the last 10 years, Wesley LifeForce has delivered suicide prevention training to thousands of Australians.
In 2010, over 1300 people attended Wesley LifeForce suicide prevention workshops or seminars.
The annual Wesley LifeForce Suicide Memorial Day held at the Sydney Opera House has drawn the attention of thousands to the tragedy of suicide and allowed those bereaved by suicide to come together in a spirit of comfort and hope.
Wesley LifeForce Funding
Wesley LifeForce is an activity of Wesley Mission and like most of our organisation’s programs, depends on a combination of corporate support and sponsorship, donations from philanthropic organisations, government funding and donations from the public.

Government Funding
The Wesley Mission LifeForce Suicide Prevention Program gratefully acknowledges the financial assistance of the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing through the National Suicide Prevention Strategy.
Other Wesley LifeForce Partners
Partnerships have also been formed with other organisations which provide further opportunities for Wesley LifeForce to expand its Program into communities around Australia such as Beyond Blue.

While Wesley LifeForce receives some financial support from the government and corporate sponsors, the ongoing generosity of the wider community can also help to make a difference.
