“I can’t believe Jesus wants me”: Tiffany’s story

“I can’t believe Jesus wants me”: Tiffany’s story

When Tiffany first walked through the doors of Wesley International Congregation, she immediately felt at home. The room was full of people passionately worshipping Jesus. Instantly, Tiffany knew this was where she wanted to be.

Tiffany’s journey began quietly, behind the scenes: running slides, managing AV, serving wherever hands were needed. She never chased titles. Instead, she chased Jesus. And in that pursuit, she discovered the truth Wesley Mission lives by: before anything else, a leader is a servant.

As the years unfolded, God widened her world. Tiffany began leading ministries, including a team of youth who visited the Reiby Juvenile Justice Centre on Saturdays. They played football, laughed, built friendships – bringing church to young people who would never walk through its doors. It was a reminder that Jesus always goes to the margins first.

Her calling kept growing. Tiffany began preaching across congregations – a new, stretching step – and joined the team relaunching women’s ministry. She now serves on the Wesley Mission Council, invited into the role after years as a church elder.

Governance might appear behind‑the‑scenes, but for Tiffany, it’s a front‑row view of God’s work. She sits on a subcommittee supporting new expressions of church in Taree, Glebe and Western Sydney. For Tiffany, it’s a privilege watching Jesus take root in places hungry for hope.

But Tiffany’s story with Jesus began long before Wesley Mission.

At seven, her dad took her to the same Sunday School he’d attended as a boy. In that little Presbyterian church, she heard stories about Jesus, and she began praying every night – not because anyone told her to, but because she felt drawn to God.

“I remember, even then, just falling in love with the idea of who God was,” Tiffany reflects.

At ten, after her family moved, Tiffany’s dad arranged for her to join a Girl’s Brigade with a family he knew. One night, during a simple survey, Tiffany was asked, “Have you invited Jesus into your heart?” She didn’t know what that meant. After her friend explained the prayer, Tiffany closed her eyes, whispered the prayer and then ticked the “yes” in the survey.

Later that night, she prayed again – this time with intention. She remembers the moment vividly, “I can’t believe Jesus wants me”.

That sense of awe has never left her. It has shaped every ministry she’s stepped into, every person she’s served and every “yes” she’s said to God.

And through it all, Wesley Mission has been her home – the place where she has grown, served, and experienced the restoring love of Jesus poured out again and again.
