About the program

Wesley Mission has delivered high quality mental health care to people in need for more than half a century, with private hospitals located in Ashfield and Kogarah.

Alongside the hospitals, our Consulting Rooms provide Psychiatrists and Psychologists with space and administrative support for sessional consultations with their clients, some of whom may also be admitted to the hospitals for inpatient treatment, while others may attend ongoing hospital day patient programs.

About the role

We are seeking casual Medical Secretaries to join our team. Duties include managing telephone and email enquiries, welcoming patients, using Medical Director Bluechip software to organise appointment calendars, process billing and payments, maintain records, correspondence, and other activities in a busy medical practice.

Reporting to the Consulting Rooms Coordinators, the positions require a professional customer service attitude, strong organisational skills and experience, and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a busy environment.

Based at Ashfield and/or Kogarah, although, there may be occasional requests to assist at the other locations.

Essential criteria:

  • demonstrated customer service and support skills
  • computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and other MS Office applications
  • excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • able to multi-task and prioritise in a busy environment
  • self-motivated with ability to work effectively both in a team and with minimal supervision.

Desirable criteria:

  • experience with practice management systems in medical consulting rooms or hospitals
  • previous accounts or bookkeeping experience.
