About the program

Wesley Disability Services assists those living with a disability to lead fulfilling lives by providing life-enriching care in our client’s homes and communities. We offer quality care, encouraging clients to maintain independence, whilst catering for their social, physical and spiritual needs.

We are currently looking for an experienced Practice Leader to ensure the implementation of support plans and programs for clients at our accommodation facility in Canterbury. This role will be an integrated part of the service and will include standard rostered shifts in a 24/7 roster, as well as the dedicated time each week monitoring and supporting clients to achieve their personal goals and outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

  • Certificate IV in Disability
  • minimum 2 years’ experience in managing services for people with disabilities or similar
  • proven experience in role modelling and practice leadership in regards to direct support
  • solid working knowledge of the National Disability Standards (NDIS) and related activities
  • experience in monitoring clients and reporting changes to relevant managers
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • ability to work independently in the community
  • previous experience working with children
  • willingness to learn and identify Therapeutic Reflective Practises
  • understanding of WH&S issues and risk management for home-based support and during the transport of clients
  • current Driver’s Licence.

Desirable Criteria:

  • a high level of understanding and working knowledge of person centred practice, the disability sector, external agencies and good support practices (there seems to be a lot in the one dot point, maybe limit it to one or two)
  • previous experience as a Group House Manager/Team Leader or similar
  • first Aid Certificate
  • previous experience of comorbidity
  • previous knowledge of programs for work option or education.

Remuneration

The position is paid in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. Generous salary packaging opportunities available as well as ongoing training and support provided.
