Wesley Home and Residential Care assists socially isolated, frail-aged people and those living with a disability to lead fulfilling lives by providing life enriching care in the community and centre based activities. We offer quality care, encouraging clients to maintain independence, while catering for their social, physical and spiritual needs.

About the role

We are currently in need of a Support Worker to join our team at our Seniors Living Centre in the Central Coast. This centre provides meaningful daily activities to clients aged 65 and over. The position will require an enthusiastic person to help plan and implement activities which promote a sense of purpose and wellbeing. We are looking for a flexible team player who will contribute in a variety of ways to enabling clients’ independence. 

Essential criteria

  • proof of 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccination
  • Certificate 111 in individual support, aged care or equivalent
  • current First Aid Certificate
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • previous experience working with frail-aged people, younger people with disabilities, people with dementia and complex needs
  • experience in monitoring clients and reporting behavioural or health changes 
  • experience with providing personal care, including the use of mobility aids
  • ability to plan, delivery and review activities and experiences that promote psychological, social and physical wellbeing
  • the ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently
  • willingness to undergo a National Police Check 
  • a desire to support the mission and values of Wesley Mission.
  • demonstrated computer literacy e.g. Microsoft Word, Outlook
  • willingness to learn to work in kitchen as required.

Desirable criteria

  • Certificate in Lifestyle and health, equivalent or transferable skills
  • Certificate in catering, equivalent or transferable skills
  • those speaking a second language are encouraged to apply.

Remuneration

Position is subject to terms and conditions under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 as a social and community services employee, Level 2, with attractive salary packaging benefits.
