What are our staff saying about the people we support?

“A young man with an Acquired Injury was admitted to a nursing home at Greenacre in 2005 where, due to his high anxiety levels, he was residing in a locked dementia unit before moving to our centre in 2011. He identified in his person centred planning  that his ‘dream’ was to return to his previous profession as a carpenter and eventually back to the community to live independently… He has now commenced employment at a small kitchen manufacturing company and has been actively working towards getting his licence back.”

“Family stated they had never had Stephen in respite care before and that it was wonderful to know that staff would care for their son. It especially took the pressure off since he has been coming for both week and weekend stays as both parents are recovering from cancer. The mother stated that she is grateful that we have been taking Stephen to his ‘work’ during his stay and maintaining his normal routines.”

“Family stated that they loved the ‘homey’ feel of the house and that they thought staff were very polite and obliging. They also stated that they felt at ease with leaving their daughter for the first time at Wesley Disability Respite as staff were so welcoming and accommodating.”

What are our staff saying?

“I feel like my time at work really makes a difference in people’s lives”

“I love my role in Wesley Disability Respite because of the diversity of tasks, the relationships and connections I am able to make with the clients and their families.”

“The Clinical Nurse from the Huntington Disease Clinic said that she was extremely impressed with the service and care that Wesley Woodward provided. She said she didn’t want to move a client elsewhere as he wouldn’t get the level of care and support that he was getting here.”
