Safe & supportive NDIS accommodation in Sydney

Having a stable, accessible home is one of the most important foundations for living well. If you live with a disability, the right housing can create new opportunities for independence, connection and wellbeing. Wesley Mission is a NDIS-registered disability accommodation provider in Sydney offering accommodation tailored to your needs and preferences.

You may be exploring your first supported living arrangement or looking for a change. Whichever your situation, our teams across Sydney can guide you through your NDIS housing options. From initial conversations to moving in, we make the process as clear and supportive as possible.

Our NDIS accommodation options

The NDIS accommodation you’re entitled to depends on your NDIS plan funding and the level of support you need. There are different pathways available. The two main options are Supported Independent Living (SIL) and Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Both support independence but work in different ways.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) across Sydney

SIL funds the support services that help people with a disability live as independently as possible in their own homes. This includes daily tasks like cooking, personal care, household management and building daily living skills. SIL is for people that need a high level of support while working towards greater independence.

Wesley Mission can provide SIL services in our own disability accommodation, or we can deliver SIL within another provider's housing. This flexibility helps you maintain continuity of care, as well as choice and control over how and where you receive support.

Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA)

Specialist disability accommodation refers to purpose-built housing designed for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. SDA homes can also be modified to meet NDIS design standards and include features such as ceiling hoists, wider doorways, emergency call systems and accessibility modifications that make daily life safer and more manageable.

As one of Sydney's most established specialist disability accommodation providers, Wesley Mission offers physical housing (SDA) as well as in-home disability support (SIL). Tenants in Wesley Mission SDA homes can bring their own support workers or use another SIL provider, preserving their right to continuity of care, choice and control.

FAQs

What is NDIS accommodation?
NDIS accommodation refers to housing options funded or supported through a participant's NDIS plan that enable people with disability to live independently with appropriate supports in place. It can include the physical home (SDA) and the support services provided within it (SIL), depending on a participant's funding.
What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
SIL (Supported Independent Living) funds the support services a person receives in their home, like personal care, cooking and daily living assistance. SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) funds the physical housing itself, which is purpose-built for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Some participants are funded for both, and others for one or the other.
Who is eligible for NDIS accommodation?
Eligibility for NDIS accommodation depends on your individual NDIS plan, assessed support needs and approved funding. SDA is generally available to participants with very high support needs or extreme functional impairment. SIL is more widely available to participants who need daily support to live independently. A support coordinator can help determine what you may be eligible for.
Can I choose where I live with NDIS accommodation?
Yes. Participant Choice and Control is a core principle of the NDIS. In practice, your options will depend on what housing is available and what your plan funding covers. Wesley Mission works with you to explore available properties and find an arrangement that matches your preferences, support needs and location preferences across Sydney and NSW.
