Got an ACAT assessment?

It’s never too early or too late to talk about aged care. Talking about getting some extra help doesn’t mean you can’t live an independent or active life.

Some people feel anxious about the idea of an assessment, but it’s just a way to work out how much help and what types of care and services you need and may be eligible for.

To access a home care package you will first need to be assessed by a member of an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) to receive government support for help at home.

The assessment process

Call 1800 200 422 to speak with My Aged Care. A staff member will ask you a series of questions in order to understand your needs. They will ask you questions about:

  • any support you are currently receiving
  • if you have any health concerns
  • how you are managing with activities around the home
  • some questions relating to your safety in the home.

If you are eligible for a home care package, you can contact us directly, so we can arrange to commence services, call your local Wesley Home Care office. There may be a waiting period for packages in some areas.

Once you have selected a home care package, they will help you plan your supports based on your specific needs. Call your local Wesley Home Care office for assistance.
