Wesley Mission can help you find the right accommodation and the necessary resources for your unique circumstances.
We help people facing homelessness by providing the following types of tenancies:
Wesley Mission can assist people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with short-term crisis accommodation for up to three months.
During this time, you will work with a Specialist Homelessness Service, or other support service provider, to help stabilise your situation and obtain more suitable and sustainable housing.
We provide crisis accommodation for single people aged 18 and over at Wesley Edward Eagar Lodge in the heart of Sydney.
We also provide crisis accommodation for:
- families (women and their children) in Sydney’s Inner West
- single men in Sydney’s Inner West
- young people in Coffs Harbour.
Transitional housing provides secure subsidised housing to people on very low to low and moderate incomes. Transitional housing tenancies are usually between six to 18 months.
This housing offers a stable base while you engage and work with your support provider to find and secure suitable longer term housing options.
To be eligible for transitional housing, you need to be linked in with a support service and nominated for housing by that support provider.
During a tenancy in transitional housing, tenants are required to work with their Specialist Homelessness Service or similar support organisation to achieve their goals and find sustainable long-term housing.
Wesley Community Housing manages transitional housing tenancies in Sydney, Central Coast and Newcastle. We work in partnership with a number of support organisations who assist single people, young people and families with their transitional housing needs.
We manage transitional housing in the following areas:
- Inner City Sydney – for singles and young people
- Sydney and South East Sydney – for singles with mental health issues
- Inner West Sydney – for families and young people
- Parramatta / Hills / Holroyd – for families
- Liverpool / Fairfield – for singles and families
- Central Coast – for families
- Newcastle and Lake Macquarie local government areas – for singles, young people and families.
- As part of the Wesley Take Charge of Your Life program we also manage transitional housing for young adults leaving foster care.
General social housing
This type of accommodation is a long term housing option for those on very low incomes who would otherwise be homeless. The process for assessing eligibility is the same as that for people applying for a property through Housing NSW.
Our long term social housing properties are located in the Canterbury-Bankstown, Liverpool, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie local government areas.
General social housing is secure and affordable rental housing for people on low to moderate incomes, and provides accommodation for a longer tenancy period than transitional housing.
Tenants in social housing may continue to work with their support service provider, or other support services in the community, towards goals that will help sustain their tenancy.
To be eligible for a social housing tenancy, applicants must meet the Housing NSW eligibility criteria for general social housing and be registered on the Housing NSW register (Pathways) with an active T number (the identification number allocated to an applicant on the Housing NSW register).
Wesley Community Housing has social housing properties in the Canterbury-Bankstown, Liverpool, Newcastle and Lake Macquarie local government areas.
