How to apply for community housing

Your application for housing with Wesley Community Housing begins by reviewing your eligibility with your support service provider, or a member of our team on 1800 770 602.

To be eligible for accommodation with Wesley Community Housing, you must meet the Housing NSW eligibility guidelines. This includes:

  • be experiencing homelessness or be at risk of homelessness
  • be able to establish your identity
  • be registered with Housing NSW
  • be able to sustain a successful tenancy (live independently)
  • be willing and able to comply with Wesley Community Housing’s policies
  • in general, be at least 18 years of age
  • where required, be actively engaged with a relevant Support service provider and be working towards obtaining permanent housing.

We try to house people where they would prefer to live, but we cannot guarantee specific locations or specific property configurations (e.g. one-bedroom unit or three-bedroom free-standing home). Some areas have a higher demand or specific eligibility criteria, and it may take longer to offer you accommodation.

Eligibility for Transitional Housing

To be eligible for Transitional housing you need to be nominated by your support provider.

When you are nominated, you can request the areas you would prefer to live in. Some areas have additional eligibility criteria, which may include the number of people in your household, the location of your support networks, or a range of other criteria.

You will need to complete a Nomination Form with the assistance of your support provider. It is important you read this form carefully and answer the questions fully. The more information you provide on this form, the easier it will be for us to assess eligibility and find housing that meets your needs.

Please note: Additional eligibility criteria may apply for certain properties, due to contractual arrangements with NSW government, so the more information you provide, the easier it will be for us to assess your eligibility and identify housing that meets your needs.

To ensure your privacy is protected, Wesley Community Housing abides by the Australian Privacy Principles detailed in the Privacy Act 1988, and any information you provide to Wesley Community Housing is treated with the strictest confidentiality.
