CHCSS00074 — Child Protection

This skill set reflects the skill requirements for the protection of children in a variety of roles in the community sector. Work may involve working directly or indirectly with children and providing support to children, families or communities.

This skill set consists of three accredited units:

  • CHCPRT001 Identify and respond to children and young people at risk
  • CHCPRT002 Support the rights and safety of children and young people
  • CHCPRT003 Work collaboratively to maintain an environment safe for children and young people

Conflict Resolution

We offer 15 courses about conflict resolution, including Body Language, Dealing with Conflict in the Workplace, Personality and Character Identification and Self-assessment and Leadership. We are able to tailor the number of subjects offered to your individual requirements.

Customer Service

This customer service training program has been designed to meet high customer service and conflict resolution expectations desired by many organisations. It aims to provide the interpersonal skills and knowledge required to deal with customers, clients, fellow workers. Help your staff deal with conflict and how they communicate and relate to others in the workplace.

CHCSS00095 – Dementia Support – Service Delivery Skill Set

This skill set is ideal for people working in various care and support roles in the community services or health sector who wish to develop skills required to provide support to people with dementia. It consists of four accredited units:

CHCAGE005 Provide support to people living with dementia
CHCCCS008 Develop strategies to address unmet needs
CHCCCS009 Facilitate responsible behaviour
CHCCCS020 Respond effectively to behaviours of concern

HLTAID001 — Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

This course describes the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide CPR, in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.

HLTAID003 — Provide First Aid

Duration: 2 days (1 day individual pre-work and 1 day class-based training)
Cost: $140 per person

Previously known as Apply First Aid or Senior First Aid, this course will give you the skills and knowledge required to provide First Aid response, life support, management of casualties, the incident and other first aiders, in a range of situations, including the home, workplace or within the community until the arrival of medical or other assistance.

Living Skills Program

An early intervention model designed to assist with lowering the risk of youth homelessness by seeing participants develop and affirm living and social skills.

The program educates participants on five areas of health, which are integral to the development of living and social skills, and lead to greater independence.

Older Person Mental Health First Aid

The 12-hour Older Person Mental Health First Aid course is for any interested adult, particularly those who work with, live with or care for older people, including families and carers.

You will learn how to assist a person aged 65+ who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based action plan.

Wesley Work Readiness Workshop

A fun and interactive one day program designed for people to gain soft skills and confidence to flourish in the workplace. Tailored to suit people new to the workforce and those returning after a long break.

Participants will gain and be able to demonstrate the top 10 soft skills valued by Australian employers.

The workshop is delivered in three topics:

CHCSS00067 — Administer and Monitor Medication Skill Set

This skill set is ideal for people working in various care and support roles in the community services or health sector who wish to develop skills in the administration and monitoring of medication. It consists of two accredited units:

HLTHPS007 Administer and monitor medication


CHCSS00070 — Assist Clients with Medication Skill Set

This skill set is ideal for people working in various care and support roles in the community services or health sector who wish to develop skills required to provide support for a person to self-administer medication. It consists of two accredited units:

HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
HLTHPS006 Assist clients with medication

Mental Health First Aid

Duration: 2 days
Cost: $300 per person

This course provides you with the education to provide first aid to someone developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate professional treatment is received or until the crisis resolves.

Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems, how to provide initial help, where and how to get professional help, what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

Youth Mental Health First Aid

Duration: 2 days
Cost: $300 per person

This course provides adults with the knowledge of how to assist adolescents who are developing a mental health problem or are experiencing a mental health crisis. Course participants learn about adolescent development, the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems in young people, how/where to get help when a young person is developing a mental illness, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

Older Person Mental Health First Aid

This course will teach you how to assist a person aged 65+ who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves, using a practical, evidence-based Action Plan.

Community LifeForce Suicide Prevention Training

Our suicide prevention workshops are based on the latest research in suicide prevention and are designed to help people identify the signs that someone may be at risk of suicide and educate them on how to respond. Community members are welcome to attend. Clinical and/or previous mental health training is not essential to attend the course. Full-day and half-day workshops are available. Please note that workshops may not be suitable for those recently bereaved by suicide. Workshop outcomes
  • understand risk and protective factors
  • how to identify the warning signs that someone may be at risk of suicide
  • how to ask directly about suicide intent.
  • understand what local and national support and resources are available to support a person at risk.

Health & Safety Representative Training

Duration: 5 days
Cost: $900 per person

This WorkCover NSW course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil their role as Health & Safety Representative (HSRs) and influence health and safety outcomes in their workplace.

Health & Safety Representative Refresher Training

Duration: 1 day
Cost: $300 per person

This course is designed to refresh the information and skills attained in the initial five day HSR training course and to assist HSRs to carry out their role and functions under the WHS legislation in their workplace.

Fire Warden Training

Duration: 4 hour course
Cost: $300 per person

The Fire Warden Training course covers the training requirements as listed in Australian Standard 3745 Emergency Control Organisations. The Fire Warden training program will equip your personnel with the skills required to safely evacuate your workplace. Regular evacuation training will ensure that your workers are ready to deal with any workplace emergency and can be tailored to your individual sites.

Emergencies covered include fires, bomb threats, chemical incidents and storms. Both theory and practical modules will ensure that your workers can respond to any workplace emergency.

Asbestos Awareness

Duration: 2 hour course
Cost: $150 per person

This course gives workers and Managers/Supervisors the knowledge they need to identify and work safely with asbestos or asbestos containing material.

The purpose of awareness training is to ensure workers understand where asbestos might be found and what steps to take to stay safe.

Training will cover:

Identification, safe handling and appropriate control measures
Asbestos containing materials (ACMs)
Naturally occurring asbestos
Loose fill asbestos (raw asbestos crushed into a fine state and installed as insulation)

Fundamental WHS Training & Manual Handling

Provides workers with a general introduction into Work Health and Safety and manual handling including recognising risks and completing tasks with the least risk and manual handling responsibilities that apply in the workplace.

Mental Health in the Workplace

People living with a mental health condition are often reluctant to disclose the information because of the stigma attached. In the workplace, this can cause increased absenteeism and loss of productivity. Mental Health and Resilience in the Workplace is a training program to raise awareness of mental health issues in the workplace, foster open communication and enhance mental health and resilience.

The program can be offered as a one day workshop or as three two-hour sessions to cover each of the modules.

Wesley LifeForce Suicide Prevention

Designed to teach employees how to support someone who is going through a tough time, identify the signs that someone may be at risk of suicide and outline the appropriate action to take.

Full-day and half-day workshops provide participants with opportunities to practice the intervention strategy. Clinical and/or previous mental health training is not needed to take part in the course. The program is designed to assist individuals to support work colleagues, family and friends—or anyone at risk of suicide.
