This is a full time role, based in Sydney.

About the role

The geographical lead pastor provides active pastoral leadership to the worship and prayer of a geographical service and its community, working with the wider staff and leadership to see the greater vision of Wesley Mission fulfilled.

 

Essential criteria

The successful candidate for this role will have the following:

 

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams in a Christian ministry context
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills
  • Ability to preach to a wide audience in a way that is engaging and faithful to the Word of God

 

Knowledge

  • Understanding and commitment to the vision, mission and Christian principles of Wesley Mission and its Word and Deed ministry
  • Commitment to and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ together with suitable knowledge, understanding and formal training of the Christian faith;
  • Strong grounding in the Word of God;
  • Strong delivery of sermons that is engaging and faithful
  • Ability to encourage and foster the use of spiritual gifts during the service and in the life of the congregation as an expression of the work of the Holy Spirit
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to nurture and grow the congregation
  • Ability to keep an eye for inactive or unwell congregants
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Ability to rally teams together

 

Other Requirements

  • Hold and continue to hold a WWCC issued by the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian
  • Hold and continue to hold an entitlement to work in Australia
  • Holds a current NSW Driver’s License
