    FAQs

What are the Sydney retirement village communities like?

Our Wesley Retirement Villages communities are vibrant, warm,  welcoming and supportive. Everything is on hand for you to thoroughly enjoy retirement living while remaining in Sydney. Learn more about life at our Wesley Retirement Villages here.

What accessibility features do the villages have?
All main buildings have the benefit and convenience of lift access, and ground-floor units are available. Each unit also has an emergency call system, connecting you to on-site staff 24/7.
What social or recreational activities are available?
There’s always something to do in our retirement villages. Activities include swimming, bowls, croquet and using the gym, and both villages are located near local golf courses. Also on offer are arts and crafts, mindfulness, volunteering, excursions, shopping trips and learning through the Wesley School for Seniors.
What security features do the villages have?

At Wesley Mission retirement villages, your safety and security is our top priority. We provide security and peace of mind through a caring combination of combination of 24/7 onsite staff, emergency call systems in every unit, and, in some locations, additional measures like CCTV.

These security features are designed to create a safe and supportive environment with 24/7 access to assistance, with onsite overnight teams and dedicated staff available for support.

It also offers you greater freedom should you want to “lock and leave” for an extended period of time to visit family or for a holiday, with the peace of mind that your home is safe and secure.

Can I rent a home in a Wesley Retirement Village?
Currently, we don’t offer rental accommodation in our Sydney retirement villages. We do offer flexible financial options without the responsibility of home ownership. Speak to us about your circumstances today.
    Can I bring my pet/s?
Unfortunately, pets are not currently allowed in our retirement village homes.
Will the fortnightly recurrent fee change over time?
Your fortnightly fees cover operation and maintenance costs, and may increase over time. They are reviewed annually in consultation with the resident committee of your retirement village, and can only be varied once in a 12-month period.
What’s not included in the recurrent fee?
Your bills, such as electricity, internet and phone, are not included in the recurrent fee. Your choice of supplier charges you directly. Building and retirement village improvements are also not included in this fee. They are covered by your deferred management fee. An additional gas surcharge is also applicable for select units, and this is charged by Wesley Mission on top of the recurrent fee. We will discuss all fees with you before you sign a contract.
Why do I have to pay a departure or deferred management fee (DMF)?
Rather than paying for building and village improvements as part of your ongoing fees, the costs are covered by the DMF. The DMF is calculated as a percentage of the refundable incoming fee, multiplied by the number of years you’ve lived in the village, capped at five years.
Are there government rebates or pension concessions for retirement village living?
You may be eligible for government rebates or concessions while living in our retirement villages. These may include rent assistance, discounts available with a Pensioner Concession or Seniors Health Cards, and state-based utility rebates. You’ll need to check the criteria with Services Australia and your state or territory government to determine your eligibility.
    Can I have guests?
Guests are very welcome in our retirement villages, and they can stay the night with you, or in one of our guest units (subject to availability).
Is there parking available for residents and visitors?
Parking spaces are available for residents to purchase or to rent on a monthly basis. For visitors, both of our retirement villages have some on-site visitor parking, and there is also parking available on surrounding streets.
