Wesley LifeForce in partnership with Lifeline and Mid Coast Council will be hosting a meeting for interested community members in Forster-Tuncurry on Monday 3 June with the aim of forming a suicide prevention network.
Wesley LifeForce works with communities around the Australia to draw together local individuals and organisations that together, will go on to develop local suicide prevention strategies. Currently there are more than 100 community-based suicide prevention networks across the nation.
The meeting in Forster-Tuncurry will be the first of its kind and is the result of ongoing community engagement initiated by Lifeline and Mid Coast Council and discussions in May 2019 between Wesley LifeForce and service representatives working in the area of mental health.
The CEO of Wesley Mission, the Rev Keith Garner AM, encourages residents to get involved.
“The aim is to empower people to tackle this difficult issue in a manner best suited to the needs of people living in the Forster-Tuncurry area,” he said.
“Simple, effective interventions can make a difference and save lives – and Wesley LifeForce can help communities to develop local activities that address the issue of suicide.”
The meeting will be held at 9am on Monday 3 June at Club Forster
