Coffs Harbour soccer fundraiser. Earlier this month, a little friendly competition motivated the Coffs Harbour community to open their hearts and wallets to supporting disadvantaged youth.

Partnering with local Coffs Harbour business, Simply Conveyancing, a Wesley Mission soccer fundraiser raised over $10,000 for Wesley Youth Accommodation services. All funds raised will go towards mentoring disadvantaged young people, aged 12-15, who face issues such as homelessness, bullying, family breakdown, and substance abuse.

“Extremely grateful to have been a part of such an incredible night for the Wesley [Mission] charity football match. It's events like this that really showcase what an amazing community we are a part of and how lucky we are to have the support of locals, to create and fund vital programs for the youth of Coffs Harbour,” said Wesley Youth Accommodation volunteer, Kareena Johnson.

After the success of last year’s fundraiser, Matt Snell, founder of Simply Conveyancing, was eager to continue this community tradition, due to his own personal passion for helping young people who are facing homelessness in the Coffs Harbour community.

Held at Coffs Harbour Showground, soccer players from a local club, volunteered their time to take part in this friendly fundraising match called ‘Australia vs. Rest of the world’. Throughout the match, Wesley Mission staff also helped raise funds for Wesley Youth Accommodation through collecting donations and running the event barbecue. Prior to the match, around $900 was raised funds for disadvantaged young people at a special dinner.

“I want to thank my team for an amazing night to raise funds for Wesley Youth Accommodation Services. Thanks for volunteering your time and the amazing effort you made to make it a night to remember … It would not have been possible without you all,” said Wesley Youth Accommodation Program Manager, Meena Johnson.
