Has the transition to NDIS been easy for you, or is it challenging to understand?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) represents one of the greatest changes to Australian social policy in a generation. It is the realisation of a long time dream for people with disability, their families and carers. It provides greater opportunities for choice, control, responsibility and the certainty of lifelong support.
Under the NDIS, Wesley Mission disability services operate in a consumer driven marketplace where people with disability control their own funding and are able to select and purchase their supports.
We have been helping people access the Scheme by building their confidence to talk about their goals and needs, and helping them consider the opportunities of the Scheme. Our 5 step process and checklists can help both people living with disability and NDIA planners to prepare for their NDIS conversations.
The NDIA began contacting people earlier this year, you probably have received information from them already, and have followed the instructions. Knowing our customers is important to Wesley Mission and we strive to always be honest, available and provide personalised service when you have any questions.
We listen to you to make sure that you receive the support you are looking for in a way you prefer, so we can better understand your needs and provide a better plan for your supports.
Please don’t hesitate to contact Wesley Mission disability services at any point during your journey if you have any questions, we are here to make the transition as easy as possible. We will provide advice on how to access the NDIS, how to plan and information on how it will affect your circumstances.
