Wesley Mission welcomes the Agape Church

27 May 2016 Wesley Mission news

Sundays at the Wesley Mission Conference Centre in Pitt Street are always lively as our diverse congregations meet to experience powerful preaching and uplifting worship. This past weekend saw the Agape congregation host three, well attended events at Pitt Street, as the Rev Keith Garner recently noted:

“We are excited that a new congregation is beginning a period of discernment alongside us. On behalf of Wesley Mission, I welcome the Agape Community of Indonesian Christians, who will be sharing with us in an intentional three-year journey which we both hope will result in them becoming fully part of Wesley Mission.”

Over 700 people packed the venue including special guests Mr Yayan Mulyana, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney and his wife; Rev Dr Rick Dacey, Senior Minister, Wesley Congregational Life; Pastors; Community Leaders; and Agape members and their friends.

Pastor Stephen Tanuwijaya delivered the sermon alongside drama and dance performances, a visual insight into the Agape Church, and cutting of the cake by Pastor Stephen and his wife to commemorate the occasion.

On Sunday 22 May the congregation began their regular meetings at Pitt Street, with two services at their new venue with over 400 people in attendance for both services. Youth fellowship will also be held on Fridays at 7pm in the Wesley Theatre.
