In the current economic climate many Australian households have had to tighten their belts and Wesley Mission has sought to gauge what impact this has on families and the broader community. When a household is financially strained it has adverse effects on relationships and on the ability for those involved to think clearly about their situation. Many households are at financial capacity, indicating that an increase in household bills would tip them into financial crisis and many would find it difficult to raise an ‘emergency’ sum of money at short notice. There is a crucial, timely need to tackle the issue and help Australian households manage mounting debt.
