A bad day that becomes good: Good Friday

18 April 2014 Wesley Impact! TV

This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet Wesley Mission's Rick Dacey and the Rev Dr Keith Garner reflects on Good Friday.

Rick's story
Rick Dacey is the Senior Minister of Wesley Congregational Life and today he shares how this solemn day, Good Friday, is also a great celebration. Rick reflects on what a powerful act it was. Jesus Christ taking on the fullness of our human experience and allowing himself to be subjected to the suffering of the cross. Rick's journey of faith began before he was born in the story of God's work in his family. For Rick, the crunch came in a dark and desperate time in his young adult years when he made a turning point and made a decision to commit his life to Christ. Rick talks about the joy of the continuous journey of discovery that his life as a Christian is. Rick shares how Jesus Christ lived his life on the edges of society throughout his ministry and how this is an example for our ministry today.

Wesley Mission storyEaster Mission week
We take a look at how Wesley Mission marked and captured the Easter story this year through a range of thought provoking performances, gatherings and events. From a celebratory procession through Circular Quay on Palm Sunday, Wesley Mission went on to host a special Easter lunch and breakfast during the week, bringing us to today, Good Friday, when we participate in a walk of witness and re-enactment of Jesus Christ's crucifixion through the streets of Sydney's CBD.

Keith's reflection
As we mark this important day, Good Friday, the Rev Dr Keith Garner takes time to explore the amazing love that was poured out for us all on the Cross of Christ. Because of, and through, Jesus Christ's death on the Cross, the door is open for us to come to God and receive His mercy and grace.
