22 December 2013 Wesley Impact! TV

This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet the Rev Dr Rick Dacey and the Rev Dr Keith Garner looks at Jesus' father, Joseph.

Rick's story
The Rev Dr Rick Dacey is the Senior Minister of Wesley Congregational Life and loves working for such a diverse and vibrant church. He reflects on the season of Advent and Christmas and what it means for people in an Australian context. While it is a festive time, many people are struggling and for some Christmas day is the saddest day of the year. Rick shares what a privilege it is for Wesley Mission to come alongside those who are lonely or needy at Christmas time and let them know they are valued.

Wesley Mission story—Wesley Congregational Life
Wesley Mission’s chaplains and pastors offer care and support to people across the whole of the organisation, from homeless centres through to mental health hospitals and family centres. Their role is to provide a listening ear, founded on the principle of offering God’s love through practical means. We take a look at a day in the life of a couple of Wesley Mission’s ministry workers.

Keith's reflection
The Rev Dr Keith Garner leads this week’s sermon on someone who might be considered the forgotten person of Christmas, Jesus Christ's earthly father Joseph, and his faithful obedience to God.

Guest performers
This week we are joined by two acclaimed Australian singers, Jack Vidgen and Paulini. Jack Vidgen hit the spotlight with his vocal talents in 2011 when he won the fifth series of Australia's Got Talent. Singer, songwriter and actress Paulini came to the nation's attention as a contestant in Australian Idol in 2003. Since then Paulini has worked extensively in the Australian R&B and pop music scene.
