Cricket and conversion
This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet cricket legend, Peter Pollock, and the Rev Dr Keith Garner explores John's Gospel.
Today we meet a South African man known for his remarkable sporting career. In 1966 Peter Pollock was named Cricketer of the Year and he has enjoyed huge success in the cricket world. Yet for Peter, all of this counts for nothing in comparison to meeting Jesus. Peter grew up in a Christian home and always believed in God but a real change came for Peter later in life when he made the transition from knowing about Jesus, to knowing Jesus. Peter shares this journey with the Rev Dr Keith Garner and reflects on how he has involved God in all aspects of his life, including his cricket career.
Wesley Mission story—helping homeless people
Today we look at a Wesley Mission event that focuses on homelessness, our Sports United event. Wesley Homeless Services work with a range of people in the community that for one reason of another have no place to live. Some of these people are families or couples; some have been on the streets for many years, others have been couch surfing for a couple of months. The Sports United event draws high profile sporting figures together to help raise funds for our homeless services.
The Rev Dr Keith Garner leads this week's sermon on an interesting encounter Jesus had with a Samaritan woman and the importance of meeting people at their point of need.
On the show this week we welcome a regular and gifted guest, Steve McPherson. Steve is the CEO of Hillsong Music Publishing in Sydney, Australia and has extensive experience as a performer, producer, songwriter and publisher. We also hear special guest, John Newsome. John is a captivating performer with honest, inspiring sounds and exceptional vocal talent. He combines pop, rock and folk styles to take people on journeys of faith and hope.
