Discovering dreams

25 May 2014 Wesley Impact! TV

This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet film maker, Genevieve Clay-Smith, and the Rev Dr Keith Garner explores 1 Peter.

Genevieve's story
On today's show we meet young Australian film maker, Genevieve Clay-Smith. Genevieve went through a very difficult time in her teenage years, struggling with depression and self-harm before she discovered God and put her trust in him. Although she had dreams of becoming an actor Genevieve felt that God was leading her to become a director. She rose to prominence in 2009 when she won Australia's high profile short film competition, Tropfest, the biggest short film competition in the world. Her film, Be my brother, starred a young man with Down syndrome. Genevieve is committed to seeing people with disability discover their dreams and find meaningful work in the creative arts. She is now the co-founder of a not-for-profit that supports people with disability in the film industry, Bus Stop Films.

Wesley Mission storyWesley Disability Services
We take a look at how Wesley Mission is supporting people with disability to find meaningful and rewarding employment and the significant impact it makes on their lives. We take a tour of Wesley Mission’s David Morgan Centre—the operational base for Wesley Packaging, Wesley Cleaning and Wesley Gardening—and meet those whose lives have been transformed. This remarkable centre has been providing opportunities for people with disability for more than 40 years.

Keith's reflection
In the fifth in a series on the book of 1 Peter, the Rev Dr Keith Garner reflects once more on the suffering of Jesus Christ. Keith explores how the Christian message is one of hope and how Christians can live out and deliver this message with gentleness and confidence.
