Holy Week special: Palm Sunday

24 March 2013 Wesley Impact! TV

This week on Wesley Impact! TV we hear Michael Bassous' uplifting story and the Rev Dr Keith Garner looks at Palm Sunday.

Michael's story
General Secretary of the Bible Society of Lebanon, Michael Bassous joins us to share about the work being carried out in Lebanon to encourage a greater understanding  of the Bible and Christianity. The work includes greater awareness and advocacy among Christians and non-Christians as a renewed interest in the Bible takes place in this fast transforming Middle Eastern region of the world.

Wesley Mission story—Lifeline
We take a journey back in time to look at how one of our key community outreach programs, Lifeline, began from a simple idea in the 1960s. We explore the origins of Lifeline and how it’s founder, former Wesley Mission CEO/Superintendent the Rev Alan Walker, grew it from the concept of offering help over the telephone. This simple idea developed into a suicide prevention hotline now operating in various parts of the world.

Keith's reflection
The Rev Dr Keith Garner leads this week’s Palm Sunday sermon with a reading from Luke.

Guest performers
Today we are joined by special guests Mark Vincent and Deborah Ezzy. Talented young singer, Mark Vincent, has emerged as one of the most remarkable voices of his generation, having won Australia's Got Talent in 2009 at the age of 15. Deborah is no stranger to our show and it is a privilege to hear from her today.
