Leaving fame, finding riches
This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet inspiring singer, Naomi Striemer, and the Rev Dr Keith Garner explores Matthew 11.
Stardom is something that many dream of but very few reach. Talented singer, Naomi Striemer, was only 18 years old when she signed her first recording contract with Sony and in no time at all her dreams were being fulfilled and she was on her way to stardom. The closer she got to power and fame, the emptier Naomi felt and one day a special messenger confirmed the futile nature of her quest for fame. Naomi left her career in the limelight and she shares with the Rev Dr Keith Garner the powerful message she brings to audiences in her concerts today: the world has nothing but Jesus Christ has everything.
Wesley Mission story—Wesley Youth Services
We take a look at how Wesley Youth Services reaches out to vulnerable young people in the community every year, offering hope and understanding. One extraordinary young woman, Elisha, shares how she came to live on the streets when she was only 11 years old. Scared and alone, Elisha explains how Wesley Youth Services helped her through this difficult time. With new found confidence in herself, Elisha is beginning to feel like she can succeed in life.
Drawing on Matthew chapter 11 the Rev Dr Keith Garner explores the illustration that Jesus uses of a heavy yoke. Jesus Christ takes this image and uses it to communicate a profound and deep spiritual truth: the yoke that He offers brings liberation and meaning and is not intended to weigh us down.
Naomi Striemer joins us as guest on the show today and, as well as hearing her special story, we are privileged to hear from her in song. We are also joined by talented performer Steve McPherson.
