The golden years
This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet Wesley Mission's Helen Wilson and the Rev Dr Keith Garner explores Matthew 15.
Helen Wilson is a General Manager at Wesley Mission, responsible for Wesley Mission's broad range of services for older people. She is passionate about giving people choice and dignity as they become older and wants to see a society where getting older is seen as a positive and fulfilling time of life. Helen brings to her work an extensive background in both practical care and administrative skill. She shares with the Rev Dr Keith Garner the importance she places on recognising the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional aspects of people and how each Wesley Mission service is there to create community and support older people, acknowledging the valuable place they hold in society.
Wesley Mission story—Wesley Carer Services
Today we look at Part 1 of Peter and Vicki's story. In 2003 Vicki’s life was turned upside down when her husband, Peter, suffered a stroke. She was left having to care for him full-time as well as run the home. Vicki realised she needed help and turned to Wesley Carer Services. Vicki is now able to get the breaks she so desperately needs knowing that Peter is in good hands.
The Rev Dr Keith Garner continues exploring the book of Matthew in the New Testament, looking at chapter 15 and the story of Jesus being interrupted by a woman in desperate need of His help. We consider the way that Jesus Christ, despite being interrupted, learnt from her and commended her for her faith.
We are privileged to hear from our Music Director, Craig Gower on the show today. Craig is an inspirational and seasoned performer who brings his creativity and artistic talent to Wesley Impact! TV each week. We also welcome Liz Cole today. Liz's remarkable gift for music is well beyond her young years, combining musical talent with poetic lyrics.
