The testing of faith
This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet Kim Johnson and the Rev Dr Keith Garner explores John.
Kim Johnson shares how her faith in God has been sustained through the loss of her husband in a car accident nine years ago, and through a motorbike accident five years later which left her with broken bones in her face and wrist. She reflects that even when life doesn’t unfold according to plan and when we feel we have nothing left, we are still of great value to God and he is still working out his purposes for us. Kim has recently remarried, and is living in Asia, where she has been using her skills as a chartered accountant, working in a language school and helping young adults to learn a trade and find work.
Wesley Mission story—Wesley Congregational Life
Today we hear about some of the great work of Wesley Congregational Life. We meet Andrew Chin and hear about his passion for encouraging and inspiring students of the Wesley International Congregation to love and honour God and to love people. We also meet Maureen, and learn that the home visits she receives from Wesley Mission chaplain Gail Kilby have given her a valued and meaningful friendship and a listening ear.
The Rev Dr Keith Garner continues his exploration of the theme of Advent through John. We learn more about John the Baptist who gave witness to the light and truth of Jesus Christ. His self-effacing character and definition of himself according to his mission to prepare the way for Jesus Christ inspires us to make the message of Christmas known.
Today we hear from Elizabeth Scott, whose remarkable gift for music is well beyond her young years, combining musical talent with poetic lyrics. We also welcome a cappella group, Soulfood—a group that offers a diverse menu of motown, soul and retro-pop music performed in a unique way by a seamless 50-voice ensemble.
