Nathan was a fun-loving, kind and compassionate dad to two small children. When his marriage broke down, his mum Janine noticed he was struggling but he reassured her that he would pull through. Sadly, Nathan had already planned to take his own life and Janine lost her much beloved son. Trying to make sense of her loss, Janine attended a local suicide prevention forum she saw advertised in the paper. In the weeks and months following, this turned into the Western Sydney Suicide Prevention Network, supported by Wesley Mission. Janine is a proud and active member, and found that the network provided vital and empathetic support from people who had also lost family members to suicide.
