Celebrating Faith-October Service
The word Christian is used three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; Acts 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16). Christian is a word used to describe someone who is a follower of Jesus Christ. However, it was not until the middle of the second century that Christians themselves spoke in this way. In the earliest days it may have been non-Christians that used the term most readily.
In Philippians, the Apostle Paul examines all the achievements he has gained and considers them as worthless in comparison to knowing Christ. This point is really an indication of how valuable to him was the greatness of knowing Christ.
Why did Paul consider all his achievements as worthless? What is it like to be a follower of Jesus Christ? What are the challenges of following Christ today?
