A safe place for my children
Cindy had always lived in the country and worked with her partner and children on their farm for more than 20 years. It was the only life she and her children had ever known, but when her partner suddenly left the family, their lives were turned upside down.
With no rental history and no formal work history, despite working hard on the farm, Cindy couldn’t find a home for herself and her children. “No one would rent to us, and even though I was doing everything I could to find housing, it was very scary,” Cindy said.
“Without Wesley Mission, I wouldn’t be where I am. They gave me the support I had never had. I get so much reassurance being here,” said Cindy.
Cindy is working on getting her driver’s license to help her to get a job so that she can eventually move into a rental property of her own with her family. She is grateful for the safe environment that Wesley Noreen Towers is providing for her children while she works towards this goal.
“It was a scary transition for us - we used to live on a farm, and now we’re in the suburbs, but it’s really good to have a safe place for the kids,” she said.
At Wesley Noreen Towers, Cindy has found the support she needed to rebuild her life. “Before I came here, life was so hard and I was in a dark place. I’m so grateful for what we’ve got. You can’t expect everything to be handed to you, but you just have to keep going,” she said.
