Best of 2013: Serving communities

5 January 2014 Wesley Impact! TV

This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet the inspiring Setotaw Befekadu and the Rev Dr Keith Garner explores Luke's Gospel.

Setotaw’s story
We meet Setotaw Befekadu, a 60 year old maths teacher living in Sydney who travels regularly to Ethiopia to work with prison inmates. Setotaw talks about how his discovery of Christianity has guided him towards the humanitarian and rehabilitation work he does today. Through the work of Setotaw and his team, prison inmates are given the opportunity to change their lives and give back to the community.

Wesley Mission story—Wesley Congregational Life
Wesley Mission offers pastoral care to people in the community who need anything from spiritual guidance to a friendly ear to listen. We meet Andrew Chin, one of our inspiring youth workers, who encourages young congregation members to honour and serve God. We also talk to Gail Kirby, one of Wesley Mission's Chaplains who provides emotional and spiritual support to older people in the community through Wesley Help at Home Services.

Keith's reflection
The Rev Dr Keith Garner leads this week’s sermon with a reading from Luke’s Gospel.

Guest performers
This week Matt Doeland joins us on Wesley Impact! TV. Matt is a singer, songwriter, worship leader and speaker with a heart to share God's amazing love. We also  welcome talented performer, Paul Morrison.
