Following our passions

24 July 2016 Wesley Impact! TV

The Rev Keith Garner speaks to Australia’s leading landscape designer, Dean Herald, and reveals the story of a young man who followed his passion and calling to become a person of influence in his field.

Melbourne-based singer and songwriter, Greg Attwells, performs Amazing Grace and we explore the power of using the Lord’s Prayer as a pattern for all our prayers.

Corporate volunteering: IMG

Across our many centres, Wesley Mission has hundreds of gardens that need to be maintained.  A well-presented and maintained garden is often the first opportunity we have to make a great impression on the people we serve and work alongside, and gardening is one of the most popular activities for people who volunteer with us.

For the corporate sector, volunteering can be a great team building exercise.  We were recently joined by the team at IMG and this week, we take a look at how they supported Wesley Mission’s work and the benefits they gained.

Special guest: Dean Herald

Dean Herald is a young man who has followed his passion and calling. He started a landscaping business at the age of just 19 and today is Australia’s leading landscape designer. He has many accolades, including a gold medal for Best Show Garden at the Royal London Chelsea Flower Show.

Rev Keith Garner talks to Dean about the joy of following your passion and doing what you love.

Guest performer: Greg Attwells

Melbourne based performer, Greg Attwells, joins us to sing Amazing Grace.

Keith’s message: Fascinating insights

This passage tells of how the disciples of Jesus wanted to be taught how to pray. Jesus’ teaching is a fascinating insight into those attitudes and responses to God that should influence all our prayers and shows us that the Lord’s Prayer should be used as a pattern for all our praying, whatever words we use.
