The Bible Society Australia

13 April 2014 Wesley Impact! TV

This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet the Bible Society's Greg Clarke and the Rev Dr Keith Garner reflects on Palm Sunday.

Greg's story
On Wesley Impact! TV today we meet Greg Clarke, the CEO of Australia's oldest continuing organisation, the Bible Society Australia. Greg talks about the importance of the Bible in Australian society today and how the Bible has been fundamental to the development of Australia's laws, ethics and political life. Greg shares how, even though the Christian church is declining in our country today, the message of Christianity and the place of faith is still very relevant. There is a real need for people to know the Bible in order to understand the roots of our culture. Greg also shares how the Bible Society is involved in the vital work of translating the Bible into people's original languages. 2017 will mark 200 years of the Bible Society in Australia and there is great excitement for the concept of making that year the year of the Bible in Australia.

Wesley Mission storyWesley Congregational Life
Wesley Mission offers pastoral care to people in the community who need anything from spiritual guidance to a friendly ear to listen. We meet Andrew Chin, one of our inspiring pastors, who encourages young congregation members to honour and serve God. We also talk to Gail Kilby, one of Wesley Mission's chaplains who provides emotional and spiritual support to older people in the community through Wesley Help at Home Services.

Keith's reflection
On this special day, Palm Sunday, the Rev Dr Keith Garner reflects on the identity of Christ as described in Paul's hymn in the New Testament book of Philippians. He looks at the remarkable insight here, that Jesus Christ was in every way a man and yet, in every way God.

Guest performers
We welcome Jack Vidgen to the Wesley Impact! TV stage today. Jack originally hit the spotlight with his vocal talents in 2011 when he won the fifth series of Australia's Got Talent.
