Wesley Impact! TV: Lawyer to Writer
In this week's episode of Wesley Impact! TV, Rev Keith Garner looks at Jesus’ parable of the persistent widow, as a model for us all as we seek to pursue goodness and justice.
You’ll also hear from Roy Williams, a lawyer who has turned his legal career into a passion for writing about faith and politics.
Plus, we’re joined by singer Dee Uluirewa who will join the Wesley Impact Band to sing ‘I Surrender All’.
Interview: Roy Williams
Roy Williams began his career as a rather successful young lawyer. But he had a life changing illness, put down the law books, and picked up the pen to write books. He turned to writing and is now an author and public speaker, but he's back into law in a different way as a lecturer at the University of Sydney Law School
Roy loves to write about Christianity and politics – but he credits his legal training for his ability to write. “What you're really paid for as a lawyer is to write things down with precision, or to say them with precision if you're a barrister. Therefore, it's great training. I don't think it's any coincidence that in the history of the Western world, lawyers have been predominant in politics.”
Roy has some great tips on the show this week for how you too could turn your hand to writing if that interests you.
Guest performance: Dee Uluirewa – I Surrender All
Dee Uluirewa is a vocalist and producer from Hillsong. In today’s episode, she sings a beautiful version of “I Surrender All”.
