Wesley Mission is opening its new community hub in the heart of Taree on Friday 8 March ushering in a new era of integrated support for the Taree and greater Manning communities.
Wesley Mission has been providing services in the region for 19 years but the new centre at 75 Manning Street will bring together under one roof three key Wesley Mission programs serving hundreds within the community.
Wesley Mission CEO the Rev Dr Keith Garner said with shared services at one location, Wesley Mission will be offering greater workforce flexibility increasing the ability to offer additional and complementary services in areas of identified needs like mental health, child and youth services, drug and alcohol services, financial literacy, employment services, health services, housing, emergency relief, disabilities and aged care.
“There will also be greater information sharing between services and greater identification of community needs or trends,” Dr Garner said.
“The Wesley Mission community hub also has a broader purpose: to build community capacity and social resilience. It will act as a gateway to services, information and learning, and enable individuals and families to increase their connections with their local community.”
A community open day will be held at the new centre between 10 am and 3 pm on Saturday 9 March. There will be plenty of activities, food to eat, sample bags and fun for families.
