I am a new creation

20 October 2013 Wesley Impact! TV

This week on Wesley Impact! TV we meet Pastor Uong Nguyen and the Rev Dr Keith Garner looks at Onesiphorus.

Pastor Uong Nguyen’s story
As a child Uong Nguyen grew up with the sound of war all around him. At 18 years of age he was conscripted to the Vietnamese Army and sent to Cambodia to restore peace. He was captured by the Khmer Rouge and brutally tortured at their hands in a prison camp before finding God and freedom in a Thai refugee camp. He has documented his story in an autobiography, I am a new creation.

Wesley Mission story—Wesley Carer Services
Stuart and Ali Simpson have twin boys with special needs. Caring for them is a rewarding and very time consuming job. Wesley Mission’s Respite Carer, Louise, comes each week to help Ali with daily tasks and attend to the boys and she is a person they trust with their needs. The respite that the Simpsons receive keeps their life on track.

Keith's reflection
The Rev Dr Keith Garner leads this week’s sermon which is part of a series focusing on lesser known Bible characters. We hear about Onesiphorus, who showed great kindness and care to the apostle Paul during times of need.

Guest performers
This week we welcome special performers Levi McGrath and Deborah Ezzy to the show. Levi is a gifted young Australian folk-pop singer/songwriter with a passion for Africa and shedding light on social justice issues. Talented singer and worship leader Deborah is no stranger to the Wesley Impact! TV stage and it is a great privilege to hear from her today.
