In this message written from prison, Paul expresses his thankfulness for the Philippians, who have generously supported him, and calls on two disagreeing leaders to be restored especially for the sake of the church community. However his main theme is joy, which comes from the Christian’s individual life in Jesus Christ and which they should share with one another. This joy is a constant even in difficult circumstances, and distinguishes Christians from the world around them as they express it in contentment, generosity and partnership.
