The Rev Dr Keith Garner explores the well-known story of Jesus calming the storm, which had come up suddenly after an intense day of teaching. Here we see a demonstration of what it means for Jesus to be Lord of all creation, and the frailty of the disciples’ faith in the face of such a violent storm. In contrast, Jesus’ composure  reflects the care and peace that comes through faith in God, even in the centre of the most difficult circumstances. For us, the key to overcoming the fear and trial that can suddenly come upon us in our own lives is the same as for the disciples: faith. As we face storms of our own, we too can benefit from an understanding of the peace Jesus Christ taught the disciples to seek in Him.
