As this series on the Gospel of John continues, the Rev Keith Garner explores Jesus’ declaration that He is the bread of life. While Jesus satisfied physical hunger and thirst through his miracles, the bread He describes here is the total fulfilment of human need that can be found only in Him. It is when we confess our hunger and conclude that only Christ can satisfy us completely that we truly understand His meaning. In Him, real satisfaction for the whole of life is found. Jesus offers each of us the bread of life, which, unlike the bread of this world, sustains us entirely.
