one in 25 young people experiences gambling harm

Research shows that 1 in 25 young people experiences gambling harm. That’s one young person in each high school classroom.

More boys are being affected than girls, and a 2018 study found that one in six 16-17-year olds have gambled in the past year.

Gambling affects young people’s education, mental health and early career experiences. Gambling harm is also connected to increasing anti-social behaviour, substance abuse and suicidal thoughts. But help is available.
