Suicide Prevention Training

Wesley LifeForce offers professional suicide prevention training to educate and equip Australians with the tools to recognise and help someone who is at risk. Since 2002, we have provided suicide prevention skills training to more than 33,000 people in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote Australia.

Wesley Mission suicide prevention model

The first stage focuses upon educating people about suicide, challenging attitudes and teaching basic engagement skills.

These take the form of:

Community training

Workplace training

We also offer healthcare professionals training to help meet the needs of the community and have developed tailored suicide prevention training programs for:

  • aged care nurses
  • aged care workers
  • GP practice staff
  • general practitioners
  • GP nurses
  • relationship counsellors.

These programs are designed to equip healthcare professionals with the skills to identify someone who may be at risk of suicide and provide the appropriate actions to take to assist them. Our programs are regularly reviewed by our national advisory board, consisting of leading Australian researchers and practitioners in the suicide prevention and mental health fields.

Our services include courses to promote mental health in the workplace and financial literacy training.
